I think most would agree to "upscale" the club but at what cost? If yearly dues would increase significantly as a result, then I think most would say no. However, if additions can be managed such that the added costs can be covered through the capital improvement budget then I think it's a good thing. Instead of these major improvements identified above, I would first suggest starting with some very basic improvements that would cost hardly anything. First, where the refrigerators were moved to, go to a building supplier and get stock countertops (around $100 formica only, around 10ft? ) and cabinets (assemble yourself) and add this to the room. The room can be laid out and used more efficiently at the same time as looking nice. Secondly, routinely (i.e. nightly), clean all grills. The current small stand alone grills are very quirky to operate. Anything that we suggest to do requires constant maintenance so that the condition doesn't erode. I'm amazed at how nice the concrete patio has stayed intact with no cracking (nice work!). Building a second floor sounds very interesting but one thing to consider is the shade lines it would create. |
