9/2/2011:
The hard tennis courts have been refinished and are open for your
enjoyment!
PLEASE remember to wear tennis shoes while on the courts. Use of
basketball shoes, flip flops, black soled shoes, etc. is unacceptable. The
courts are already scuffed up which is unfortunate because the new finish
was a substantial investment. Please respect the rules of the courts and
the property of the entire membership and wear proper footwear on the
courts.

Westford will be selling lines in their Championship program for
$1/line for parents/family/friends to wish their swimmers good luck!
If you are interested in purchasing any lines in the program, we will be
selling them at the greeter desk tomorrow morning from 9-11 am.
Parking for the Championship swim meet this Saturday is not allowed at
the businesses across the street from Westford Swim and Tennis Club.
Parking will be allowed in the businesses next to WS&TC. So, if you are
driving on Littleton Road and WS&TC is on your left, parking is allowed in
the businesses immediately before the club on the left. Parking lots will
be appropriately marked. They will be towing cars out of the businesses
across the street, so be sure to park in the correct area to avoid getting
towed! WS&TC staff members will be stationed at the club's entrance to
assist with arrivals/drop-offs. Drivers are strongly encouraged to drop
off swimmers, passengers, and equipment and then proceed to the off-site
parking.
WS&TC will open at 6:45 am. Warm up for the meet will begin at 7 am. The
pool will close at 8:40 am in order for the Championship parade to take
place. The meet will start right after the parade at 9 am.
If you cannot attend the Championship swim meet and still have not let
myself or one of your coaches know, please do so tomorrow!

8/1/2011:
Donna Omobono will be pre-selling dinner tickets for the Awards cookout
tomorrow (Tuesday 8/2) and Wednesday (8/3). The tickets are $8/person
which includes: a hotdog, hamburger, or cheeseburger, pasta salad, dessert
and a drink. Meal tickets for the cookout must be purchased in advance.
Thanks!
Session 2 of lessons will begin on Monday, August 8th. There will be a
stroke and turn clinic from 9-10 am, Level 2 from 10:00-10:30 am, Level 3
from 10:30-11:00 am, and Level 4 also from 10:30-11:00 am. Levels 5 and 6
will not be offered during this session. If your child would be in Level 5
or 6, we would recommend the stroke and turn clinic in place of these
levels. Stroke and turn clinic will run the first week only, and Levels 2,
3, and 4 will run for 2 weeks. All of the lessons and clinics will be
Monday through Friday. Sign ups are still posted in the lobby!
And we still need 2 bullpen workers for Saturday's (8/6) Championship swim
meet at Westford. Please let me or Donna Omobono know if you are able to
help out. Thanks!
|
7/29/2011:
Due to the inclement and unpredictable weather CS&T idol is going to be
postponed. The new date for CS&T Idol will be Monday, August 1st at
5:00. Pizza and soda will be served for $5.00. We hope to see everyone
there!

7/29/2011:
As we approach the end of the swim team season, we would like to remind
parents whose children participate on the team of the request that each
family participate in the running of at least two meets during the year.
Our meets run so smoothly due to the fabulous efforts of all the families
involved. We simply couldn't do it without help from all of you. If you
have not fulfilled the two meet minimum, there is still time. We are in
need of volunteers for this Saturday's home meet against Heritage and for
the Championship meet on Saturday, August 6th in Westford. Please see
Donna Omobono to sign up for either meet. Please remember that there is a
$50 fee assessed for those families that opt to not assist at two meets
per season. In addition, we are very thankful for all the concession
donations. The money we raise through concession helps with the end of
year gifts for the kids and other expenses associated with running the
team. Those donations do not take the place of helping out at the meets.
Again, we thank you for all of your efforts to make CS&T a great place to
spend the summer.
|
7/28/2011:
We still have volunteer slots open and concession donations would be
appreciated for Saturday's meet against Heritage. The sign up for
these things are hanging in the clubhouse.
For the Awards Cookout, Bianco's will be catering this even. The
cost will be $8/person which includes: a hotdog, hamburger, or
cheeseburger, pasta salad, dessert and a drink. Meal tickets for the
cookout must be purchased in advance and they will be available Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday during the week of August 1st. See Donna Omobono
under the shade pavilion to purchase tickets.
In regards to Canobie, we will do our best to make the groups
according to requests but some changes may have to be made.

7/25/2011:
We have a busy couple of weeks coming up! I just wanted to send out a
reminder email about all of our upcoming events.
This Wednesday, July 27th, will be the Colonial Classics swim meet.
This meet will be held at Wedgewood. Warm up is at 4:00 pm and the meet
will start at 5:00 pm. This swim meet is for all of the swimmers that did
not swim at All-Stars. Even if you were an alternate at All-Stars and did
not swim, you can swim at Colonial Classics. Please let me know ASAP if
you cannot attend this meet! We also still need volunteers for the
Colonial Classics Swim Meet. Volunteers will be given a parking pass for
the meet. Sign up is located in the lobby.
We also still need volunteers for the
Heritage meet (at home) this Saturday, and for the Championship meet next
Saturday. Sign ups are located in the lobby.
This Thursday, July 28th, will be the Chuck Wood Biathlon. It will
take place instead of swim team practice and all swim team members are
expected to attend. Don't forget your sneakers!! :)
This Thursday, July 28th, is also the Canobie Lake Park trip. The
bus will leave the club around 3:30 pm and will return at 11:00 pm. Please
bring $35 cash or check made out to Chelmsford Swim & Tennis if you are
planning on attending. The money can be handed in at the greeter's desk or
to Meg or Corey.
This Friday, July 29th, will be CS&T Idol. This event will start at
5:00 pm. Please sign up in the club house if you are planning on
attending! We will be serving pizza and need an idea of how many people
will be attending. The cost will be $3 for 2 slices of pizza and a drink.
Next Monday, August 1st, will be Diving Championships. This event
will be held at Wayland.
Next Friday, August 5th, will be the Swim Team Pep Rally and team
pictures. The swim team picture will be taken at 4:00 pm. Please wear
your team swim suit! Please sign up in the lobby if you are planning on
attending the pep rally. We will be serving pizza and need to get an idea
of how many people will be attending. The cost will be $3 for 2 slices of
pizza and a drink. Families are asked to bring either a salad or a dessert
to share.
And finally, next Saturday, August 6th, will be Swim Championships.
This event will be held at Westford. Please let me know BEFORE FRIDAY if
you cannot make this meet! The end of the year Awards Cookout will take
place at CS&T following the Championship swim meet. Please sign up in the
lobby if you are planning on attending. We will be serving Bianco's
Catering and need to get an idea of how many people will be attending. The
cost will be $8 per person. Families are asked to bring either a salad or
a dessert to share. The pool will be closed during this awards ceremony. I
will be sending out an email later in the week letting everyone know what
time we will be closing the pool as it is dependent on when the
Championship swim meet ends.
The last day of swim lessons for this
session is this Friday, July 29th. We will be having an ice cream social
following the end of lessons on Friday. Session 2 of swim lessons will
begin on August 8th. Lessons during this session will be Monday through
Friday and will be 30 minutes long. This session will offer levels 2, 3,
and 4 (2 full weeks), as well as stroke and turn (1st week only). Sign ups
will be in the club house lobby.

park ticket. We will accept cash or checks made out to Chelmsford Swim and
Tennis Club. If your child has signed up for the trip, please confirm that
they are going by email by Monday, July 25th. Thanks!

7/20/2011:
Sewer Project Update
Over the next 2 weeks, there will be activity in the parking lot and
outside the clubhouse, related to the sewer project. There are a couple of
things that need to be done at this time:
a. Install manhole in the parking lot. This will be located on the far
side of the parking lot, near the dumpster, and about 10' from the
existing manhole. The town requires this for occasional testing of our
sewer output, a legally mandated configuration for 'non-residential'
structures.
b. Install new connection to the clubhouse sewer output. This line will be
located in the member closet by cutting into the concrete slab floor and
running a pipe from the existing clubhouse output line, out the front of
the building, and then connecting again to the existing line which goes to
the main sewer pipe running along the driveway and out Blaisdell. This
will allow the club to by-pass the septic tank, and some related "Bermico"
pipe (which is no longer in use, and which has deteriorated over time).
Legally, we are not allowed to connect via a septic tank.
Because of existing agreements with the original contractor, the good news
is that all of this work is being done at no cost to the club. Members are
asked to be alert to activity in the parking lot. There may be, at times,
orange cones in the lot indicating a sewer contractor work area. Please
accommodate these work areas, and avoid parking within the area where
cones are located. We have been told that a maximum of 3 to 4 spaces would
be unavailable at any given time.
We thank you for your patience while we finalize the sewer project, and
create a system that will last for years to come.
Best Regards,
Jack Day for the Board of Governors

7/20/2011:
Hot dog lunch will be held today, Wednesday July 20th, after swim
team practice. The cost is $3 for a hot dog, chips, and a drink.
Also, just another reminder that today we will be hosting the All-Star
swim meet at CS&T. The pool will be closed from 3:00 pm due to this meet.
Please be sure that you are not parked in the club parking lot unless you
have a parking pass! Volunteers that have not yet received their parking
pass can pick them up tomorrow from Tom at the club.
We will be selling the remainder of the All-Star t-shirts tomorrow
morning. There are youth smalls, youth larges, adult larges, and adult
x-larges remaining.
|
7/19/2011:
We would like to invite any and all tennis players to Adult Mixed
Doubles Play on Friday nights. We start at 7 pm. A few sets are
played and then the evening is ended with drinks and hors d'oeuvres
(provided by the players). Play is alternated between CS&T and Russel
Mill. The schedule for the remainder of the summer is below:
July 29 at Russell Mill
August 12 at CS&T
August 26 at Russell Mill
Please feel free to come to one or all. We look forward to seeing you on
the courts!
|
7/17/2011:
The Russell Mill meet tomorrow will not include diving due to the conflict
with the All-Star diving meet. However, if any diver wants to dive at this
meet, he or she may dive when the Russell Mill divers are diving. Diving
will not be scored at this meet.
Also, the All-Star meet is being held this Wednesday July 20th at our
pool. Therefore, the pool will be closed starting at 3 pm. In
addition, you may only park in the parking lot if you have an All-Star
meet parking pass. Other cars will be parked at Byam School and there
will be a shuttle to the club. Also, please check the All-Star meet entry
in the lobby. If you would like to purchase an All-Star T-Shirt, they will
be on sale as soon as they arrive. The cost is $10 and you may pay cash or
check to CS&T. Watch for a table on deck!
We have leftover sausage and meatballs from our awesome family day event
today. Tomorrow, Monday 7/18, we will sell sub sandwiches for $3.00
starting at 11:00 am until we run out. All proceeds go to the club, so
save yourself a day of lunch packing and buy a sub on Monday!
|
7/16/2011:
Just a reminder that Family Day will take place tomorrow, Sunday July
17th at noon at the club. There will be fun activities for all ages at
the tennis courts and in the pool area. Food will be provided by Bianco's

please bring either a salad or a dessert to share.
Also, we still need a bunch of volunteers for the Russell Mill meet. If
you can help out, please sign up in the lobby! Thanks.
And swim team members, please be sure to pass in your donations to the
raffle basket coordinators. We need time to prep them for the All-Star
meet on Wednesday July 20th. If you do not have time to shop you can
make a donation that will be used to complete the baskets. Thanks!
|

CS&T purchased 100 tickets for the Spinners game this Monday July 11th.
We have a large number of the tickets still available. This is
usually a sell-out event for CS&T! If you were intending on going, but
haven't purchased your tickets or thought they were sold out, feel free to
bring your money (tickets are $8) to the meet tomorrow and see any board
or staff member. The tickets will be available at the club all weekend
through Monday. And by the way - the weather looks great for the game on
Monday!

7/7/2011:
Hi Swim and Dive Team Families,
Tomorrow the coaches will hold a swim and dive team meeting after
second practice at 11:00 a.m. We will review meet essentials like the
bull pen, heat cards, order of events, when to talk to the coaches, etc.
No worries if you can't make it, we will briefly review such details
before the meet at Wayland on Saturday. New parents or parents who need to
brush the rust off are welcome to attend, especially if your child has an
11:00 o'clock lesson that you don't want them to miss :)
Just a friendly reminder, Saturdays meet at Wayland is 10:00 warm-ups
and 11:00 start.
Next Saturday is our dual meet rematch against Westford. It is the
coaching staff's expectation that the team will have excellent
representation at this meet and every meet thereafter. There are few
exceptions to the rule so if you do need to put your name on the "can't
attend list" for any meet please have your child(ren) talk to their
coaches about it as well. Commitment to the team and to yourself are most
important.
|
7/5/2011:
The swim meet this Saturday at Wayland will be 10:00 warm-up and 11:00
start. On the original schedule, I had said that it was starting at
the normal 8:30/9:30 time, but Wayland starts their meets later when they
host them at their club. Sorry for any confusion.
Also, we are looking for someone (or a couple of people) to be in charge
of the All-Star T-shirt design contest. If you are interested in
heading this, please let me know ASAP! With All-Stars around the corner,
we need to decide on a design soon. Thanks!
Please see the attached information on the
All-Star Raffle Baskets! (Click here!
Hot Dog Lunch will be starting this
Thursday 7/7. It will start at 11:30 and the cost will be $3 for a hot
dog, a bag of chips, and a drink. After this week, Hot Dog Lunch will run
on Wednesdays (7/20, 7/27, and 8/3).
Also, just a reminder that the club Canobie Lake Park trip will be
Thursday, July 28th. The trip is for ages 9 and up. There will be a
sign up sheet in the lobby this week. Be sure to sign up so we can get an
accurate head count for the bus!
And I had originally sent out that the Russell Mill (7/18) meet would be a
4:30 warm-up and a 5:30 start, however, the Russell Mill meet will be a
3:00 warm-up and a 4:00 start.
Lastly, we are still looking for a refrigerator for the member room. If
anyone has an old fridge that they would be willing to donate, let us
know! Thanks!)
|
6/29/2011:
Hi CS&T Swim and Dive Families,
Tomorrow (6/30) the Swim and Dive team wants everyone to join in and kick
off the season together while eating breakfast poolside after morning
practice at 11:00. Bagels, muffins, juice, fruit and munchkins will be
served for the whopping sum of $1.00. So, look through those sofa cushions
and underneath your car seats to pull some change together for the best
bargain of the season and join in the fun! The coaches hope to see
everyone there!
Just a reminder, Spinners tickets are being sold at the sign in desk in
the clubhouse. The tickets are for Monday, July 11th and are $8 a ticket.
Sales are picking up, so if you’re interested, check in with a greeter
soon and buy some ticks! See you around the pool!
|
6/29/2011:
As we approach the 4th of July, I wanted to check-in and update everyone
on the status of our capital improvements. While the playground and fence
are completed, we have delayed both the resurfacing of the hard courts and
the sealing/re-lining of the parking lot. Unfortunately, we have
encountered a problem with our tie-in to town sewerage. While our
bathrooms are operational now we need to do some additional work to
complete our connection to the town sewer. Hopefully, within the next few
weeks, this problem will be rectified and we will be able to proceed with
the other projects as planned. So everyone is aware, when this additional
work is done, the restrooms will be closed for a day or two to allow for
this work to take place, which is why we still have two portable toilets
on-site. We appreciate your patience on this and hope everyone is enjoying
their summer at the club thus far.
|
6/25/2011:
The workout classes with Lori McDermott will start this Tuesday, June
28th, at 9:00 am at the club! They will run through the summer (until
August 4th) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $50 for the summer and
is due this Tuesday. If you must pay per class, the cost is $10 per class.
There will be no class on July 12th or 14th. Please bring a workout ball
and weights!
Swim team practice will run from 9-11 am from this Monday until the end
of the season. 12 and under practice is from 9-10 and 12 and over
practice is from 10-11. Dive practice will be from 11-1 pm.
|
6/22/2011:
We are having a swim meet this Saturday at the club. The warm-up will
start at 8:30 am and the meet will start at 9:30 am. Both the swim team
members and the dive team members are expected to participate. If your
child is unable to attend the swim meet, please email
info@chelmsfordswimandtennis.org and let us know! We need to know who
will be there so that we can split up the team and determine what everyone
will be swimming. Thank you and talk to you soon!
|
6/18/2011:
The swim team will be having their Kick-off Pizza Party on Wednesday June
23, at 6PM.
|
6/14/2011:
The club is looking for a new refrigerator! Please let us know if you have
one available. Thanks!
|
6/6/2011:
Just a reminder that the first day of swim team practice is today, Monday
June 6th. Practice for the older group (12 and over) is from 3:30-4:30 pm
and practice for the younger group (12 and under) is from 4:30-5:30 pm.
Practice this week will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Diving practice
this week will take place on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:30-7 pm
for all ages.
The team swim suit and sweatshirt sale will take place this Wednesday,
June 8th starting at 3:30 pm. Be sure to come and buy your team suits if
you do not have one from past years!
Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns! Thanks and
talk to you soon :) ~Meg

It is that time of year again! Spring Clean Up will be held on two
different days this year in an effort to maximize participation based on
your busy schedules. We need to get as much done as possible for the
opening of the club so pick a day and come over to help. Please
participate by coming to one of the days for as much time as possible.
Chelmsford Swim and Tennis is a member owned club and we are the owners.
We all enjoy spending time in a nicely kept and well maintained
environment during our leisure time in the summer. To produce the well
kept grounds we all expect takes the work of many.

New Member Orientation: In order to help you get acclimated to the
rhythm of CS&T we have for the last several years hosted a New Member
Orientation meeting prior to the opening on Memorial Day. You will get a
chance to meet the Management Staff of the club, many if not all of the
Board of Governors and view a PowerPoint presentation about the programs
and benefits offered to you and your family. We will even give you a few
Do's and Don'ts. There will be ample opportunity for you to ask questions
so you can feel comfortable from day one. Please join us if you are able
to gather some very helpful information so you can make the most of your
membership.
Monday May 16th, 7:00 - 8:00pm, at Chelmsford Police Station /Public
Safety Building

5/3/2011:
As we approach the club opening in a few short weeks, I have some exciting
news to share.
The Board of Governors recently approved the hiring of Alex Loyer as our
new Director of Tennis, which makes our management team complete.
Alex comes to us from Russell Mill where he was the head of their tennis
program for the past three summers, a program he initially started working
in several years ago when he was a student at Chelmsford High School. Alex
is excited to get started and will be working closely with board members
John Segal and Patty Doherty to provide the membership with a top-notch
tennis program.
In addition, the board recently approved the following renovation
projects:
1. Replacing the fence in the front of the club
2. Purchasing a new playground set and establishing a new fenced-in play
area adjacent to the baby pool area
3. Resurfacing and painting the hard tennis courts
4. Sealing and re-lining the parking lot to provide additional parking
spaces
As you can imagine, the board has had an extremely busy off-season between
hiring an entirely new management team and putting together the
aforementioned renovations. I would like to thank the entire board for
their tireless efforts and for taking time out of their busy lives to
participate in the interviewing processes and for meeting with various
contractors related to our improvement projects.
I and the rest of the board look forward to sharing additional information
with you on Monday, May 16th at the upcoming Spring Annual Meeting
(6:30pm) and New Member Orientation (7:00pm), which will be held at the
Chelmsford Police Station. In the meantime, we can root for the Bruins,
Celtics, and Red Sox and finish out another school year as we look forward
to another great summer at CS&T and everything our club has to offer! |
5/3/2011:
The tennis courts are officially open and ready for your playing
enjoyment. We have some changes to note and would like to ask your
cooperation on the following:
*Please lock the gate when you leave the courts until the club
officially opens on Memorial Day and after Labor Day when the club
closes for the season.
* From Memorial Day to Labor Day please lock the gate if you are
using the courts before or after normal club operating hours.
* We ask that only club members have access to the combination in
order to eliminate unauthorized access to the courts.
*Please use basic court ettiquite when finished using the clay
tennis courts.
*Courts should be swept and lines should be swept after you are
finished playing.
|
5/3/2011:
The Chelmsford Swim and Tennis Club will hold a short informational
meeting prior to the New Member Orientation for members wishing to
attend on Monday May 16th from 6:30 - 7:00pm. The meeting will
be held at the Chelmsford Police Station in the room just of the main
lobby. Members of the new management team will be in attendance
for introductions.
